Castings Technology International Ltd (CTI) is a world class manufacturer of cast metal components with a global marketplace – a business that embodies Made in Sheffield’s reputation internationally in this sector.

Previously owned by the University of Sheffield, the management team recently succeeded in an MBO supported by Nucleus Commercial Finance and Mercia Asset Management which was completed via the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund in January 2021.

History of the Relationship

We had two links into the business – a long-term relationship with the Executive Chairman, Kevin Parkin and also with Kevan Shaw the MD at Castle Square Corporate Finance, the advisors who helped to facilitate the MBO transaction. These relationships lead to our meeting Richard Cook (CEO ) in Q4 2020.

The existing FD has stayed on post-retirement to assist with the MBO transaction and they needed to recruit an FD who will support them in their current size, build a financial strategy to underpin the growth plan and who understands their manufacturing process, costing and pricing.
