Building Finance Teams to Support the Technology Sector

There has been more growth in the technology sector for financial recruitment in the past year than in any other.

6% of CFOs in both Yorkshire and the East Midlands work in the Tech Sector…..
…..but 16% of appointments in the past year have been across SaaS, Hardware, Networking, Cyber, Gaming, Cloud and AI businesses

So many skills of a modern CFO or Financial Controller are transferrable across different sectors, but technology has been more incestuous in recruiting than almost every other sector. There are a few very good reasons for this:

  • ARR / Annual Recurring Revenue – Comes with additional financial responsibilities for revenue recognition.
  • Cash Flow Management – Significant initial capital investment with a more gradual subscription based revenue model.
  • Metrics and KPIs – Important in every sector, but so many more unique ways of segmenting the customer base and habits than in other sectors.

We recently shared an interview with the SaaS sector specialist CFO, Rob Stepney, click here to read the article that expands on some of the points above.

Our team at Pratap Partnership CFO Network specialise in creating finance teams for growing businesses. During the past three years, we have been growing more of a niche within the Technology sector, working with investors such as YFM, Mercia, BGF and Foresight on their portfolio and directly with some great technology businesses such as UniHomes, Nasstar, FOD Mobility, Forensic Analytics, Sumo Digital .

We are able to benchmark, plan and execute successful recruitment processes for finance professionals from management to executive level, interim and permanent, part-time and full-time. We have a large knowledge bank to build on and our network of candidates is vast and largely populated with very close relationships.

Financial recruitment can materialise for exit-planning, growth support or just to navigate change – whatever the circumstances, if you are considering your finance infrastructure over the coming weeks, please drop me a note. It would be good to arrange a time to speak and find out more about you.
